A Holistic Approach to Patient Care
A highly skilled chiropractor, Dr. Vassilakis is dedicated to promoting spinal health and overall wellness with a holistic approach to patient care. He provides personalized treatment plans to address musculoskeletal issues and improve function. Dr. Vassilakis offers various services focusing on spinal adjustments, corrective exercises, and lifestyle counseling.
His full services of care with Zion Medical Inc. and Accident & Injury Clinics include treatment for car and motorcycle accident injuries, core strengthening, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) treatment, manipulation and adjustment, manual therapy, physiotherapy, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching, slip and fall injuries, and ultrasound.
Core Strengthening
Core strengthening involves exercises that train the muscles in the pelvis, lower back, hips, and abdomen to work together seamlessly. This leads to improved balance and stability in all facets of life. Most sports and other physical activities depend on the stability of the core muscles.
EMS Therapy
During EMS therapy, a device generates electrical impulses delivered to the muscles through electrodes attached to the skin. The impulses mimic the action potential that causes muscles to contract, forcing them to flex and relax repeatedly. EMS can be used to strengthen weak muscles, reduce swelling, relieve pain, help heal wounds, and decrease muscle spasms.
PNF Stretching
PNF involves both stretching and contracting (activation) the muscle group being targeted to achieve maximum static flexibility.
Spinal Manipulation
Vertebrae can become misaligned due to various factors, from routine daily activities to traumatic events like car accidents. Fortunately, chiropractic adjustments offer a non-surgical, effective approach to relieving back pain associated with these misalignments. Spinal manipulation is a type of chiropractic adjustment aimed at enhancing spinal mobility and overall body function. Dr. Vassilakis achieves this by manually realigning vertebrae that have shifted out of place.
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is a form of chiropractic treatment that does not rely on the use of any devices or machines. The only tool is the chiropractor’s hands. During a manual therapy session, Dr. Vassilakis will manually apply pressure to a patient’s muscle tissues and manipulate their joints in order to help alleviate the pain at the source.
Ultrasound
Chiropractic ultrasound is a technology that offers a faster healing process due to increased blood flow in the treated area. It also reduces discomfort due to decreased swelling and edema. Gentle massage the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the treated area, adding no strain and softening scar tissue. These ultrasonic therapies are quick, painless, and effective for a wide range of diseases. Dr. Vassilakis recommends this treatment for golfers looking to improve their game, as a strong core is critical to a powerful and consistent swing.
Education and Training
Harry Vassilakis completed extensive training in chiropractic care and remains updated with the latest advancements in the field. He studied at St. John’s University in New York and attended Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) in Pasadena, Texas, the fourth-oldest chiropractic college in the United States. Founded in 1908, TCC was originally located in San Antonio, Texas, before moving in 1965 to Pasadena due to increased demands for a larger campus.
